Whether your crew wants to get crafty with cat-themed art, take a shelter pup on a field trip, meet adoptable kitties over a cold brew, or roll up your sleeves for a meaningful volunteer project, there’s a tail-wagging good time waiting just around the corner.


๐ŸŽจ Create Cat-tastic Art for the Kitty City Cat Café’s Kid-Made Museum!

Do you have a young artist at home who adores cats? The Kitty City Cat Café is launching a Kid-Made Cat Museum Project, and they’re looking for original, framed cat-themed art to fill their walls with purr-sonality!

All submissions must be framed and about cats—whether factual or whimsical, realistic or abstract. As a thank you for participating, each artist will receive two free passes to visit the café and hang out with the adoptable kitties!

Looking for a meaningful and memorable family activity? Join the Roanoke Adventure Dogs Program, hosted by the Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP).

This program invites community members to take a shelter dog out for the day—whether it's for a walk in the park, a mountain adventure, or just a cozy ride around town. It gives the dogs a break from the shelter and gives families a fun bonding experience.

Meow + brews = a paw-some afternoon! Join Angels of Assisi at Big Lick Brewing Company for Tails and Ales: Cat Edition—a casual, family-friendly event where you can sip local brews and snuggle up with some adoptable cats.

  • Meet adorable, adoptable cats
  • Enjoy craft beer at Big Lick
  • Take part in our Kitten Shower by dropping off donations (kitten food, litter, toys, etc.) to help Angels of Assisi prepare for Kitten Season!

๐ŸŒฟ Volunteer Opportunity: Help Maintain Our Pet Cemetery

Looking to give back in a meaningful way? Volunteers are needed to help care for the Pet Cemetery at the Roanoke Valley SPCA—a peaceful place where families honor their beloved pets.

๐Ÿ’š What You’ll Do:

  • Trim around headstones
  • Pull weeds and clear overgrowth
  • Raise headstones and remove debris
  • Maintain walking paths

๐Ÿ•’ Time Commitment: About 4 hours
